Project Soli, a haptic solution for advanced use your hand as a standalone controller.Project Soli, it is a new way to interact with our devices, using our fingers and hands. Nothing new, however ATAP has managed to create a very small chip, and reached a sensitivity never before seen.
The system uses a broad radar beam to measure the Doppler image, IQ and spectrogram. The chip recognizes movements, speed and distance. So you use your hands and fingers to interact with your devices. That's the Soli Project.
Soli The chip operates in the 60 GHz radio spectrum and captures up to 10,000 frames per second. The final chip will contain everything needed for use in our smartphones and our connected devices, including antennas.
One of the most important aspects is the size of the chip. In only 10 months, the ATAP teams went from the size of a pizza box to a smaller chip as an SD card.
Quite similar to Leap Motion, Soli goes even further and can even detect very small movements of the fingers. I look forward to testing this technology, combined with a connected watch.
