Weak industrial relations create labor disputes in an organization which are demonstrated in the form of strikes, lock-outs and other forms of actions. The common concerns of labor disputes are loss of production, loss of turnover, and even the cessation of the organization. Disputes are common in industries; so their nature and reasons are unavoidable for the organization to study.


Labor disputes can be defined as conflicts or disparities over the rights and interests of employees with the management. It means, disputes are the disagreements between workforces and the employers in matter concerning to organizational procedures. The contradiction can be in existence, in ideas and opinions of workers and managers. In a wider sense, labor dispute can occur not only between employees and managers, but also between employees and employees, or between employers and employers. Hence, such disputes are indicators of industrial disorder in which both workers and managers try to coerce each other. Therefore, an attempt should be given towards the settlement of disputes on every occasion they arise.
